Konami has once again come up with something new this year and, after the Pendulum Monsters, is now introducing Link Monsters and Link Summons with the Link Strike Starter Deck. The aim is to slow down the game somewhat, i.e. to slow down the pace. This makes the strategic approach to the game even more important. With the Link Strike deck, it is no longer just a question of how you play your cards, but an important strategic tool will be where you place your cards on the field. The new Link monsters start in the Extra Deck and can only be summoned face-up in attack position. They have no level and no DEF. The respective requirements (type of monster and number) for a Link Summon are specified by the Link Monster. If a link monster is summoned, the link arrows on the link monster card show which other monster zones are linked. Monsters from the Extra Deck can be summoned to these linked zones. The new link monsters allow many monsters from the Extra Deck to be played at the same time. The challenge here is to avoid linking opposing zones as much as possible so as not to help the opponent unintentionally.
